A Discovery of Witches is a British fantasy television series based on the All Souls trilogy of novels by Deborah Harkness. She is a historian-turned-witch who inadvertently discovers a hidden realm of magic and witchcraft after she reads a manuscript from the Oxford Bodleian Library – one of Europe’s oldest libraries. Matthew Goode plays vampire Matthew Clairmont. He falls in love with Diana, despite a long-standing mistrust between witches and vampires. They establish an alliance to preserve the book of life and unravel the secrets it contains while avoiding monsters and evil threats. The first season concludes with Juliette, Matthew’s former lover, attacking him. As Matthew lies dying, Diana makes the ultimate sacrifice, bearing dire consequences. In season 2, Diana Bishop has used her magic to send herself and Matthew to the safety of 16th century Elizabethan London to escape the clutches of evil witch Peter Knox . She must seek a strong witch to assist her in controlling her abilities and locate the mysterious Book of Life. However, because this time leap transports Matthew to a period when he was a different vampire, spying for the Queen to eradicate witches, things have become more than a little difficult. Diana and Matthew were wrapping up their experiences in 16th century London at the conclusion of Season 2 and ready to time-travel back to the modern-day Sept Tours.
