Can 2 players play Cayo Perico heist?

GTA Online heists can be a lot of fun, but some fans prefer those that only require two players. After all, not everyone has three buddies that they can partner up with for all the heists in the game.

In this case, one should know that there are currently six heists in GTA Online that can be done with just two players. Keep in mind that this article was written on November 10, 2022. Any new applicable heists that are released after this date won't be mentioned here.

It is worth noting that The Cayo Perico Heist can be done solo. Excluding The Fleeca Job, everything else in the above bullet points can be done with up to four players.

This limitation is only important in event weeks that incentivize players to do them. Their overall pay is noticeably lower than the ones in the previous list (excluding The Fleeca Job once again).

Keep in mind that this heist also has secondary targets, with values fluctuating per target:

That's everything GTA Online fans need to know about heists that can be done by two players in the game.

The Cayo Perico Heist was the last update in 2020, and it introduced one of the best-paying Heists in GTA Online. The titular Heist was quite well-received, and it solved the issue of repetitive grinding in the game.

Earning money and attempting Heists are perhaps the most important aspects of gameplay in GTA Online. It only makes sense that both of these are intertwined. The best way to earn a large amount of money in the game is to complete a Heist.

However, before the Cayo Perico Heist arrived, grinding had become a necessity in GTA Online. The insane prices of some of the most useful items could only be recovered by repeating the same property missions.

The Cayo Perico Heist solved this problem by providing a fast means of earning millions in GTA Online. This article details just how much money a player can make from this Heist.

Thank You!

I calculated the optimal number of players for the Cayo Perico Heist depending on the value of the primary target:

Primary Target
over 1.14 $Mio: 1 player
over 980k $: 2 players
under 980k $: 4 players

The optimal number varies because certain secondary targets are locked behind 2 player keypads and because you can do multiple heists in quick succession with multiple players.

My caculation (pls comment if you spot an error):

All Fees will be ignored as they don't change by increasing the amount of players.

X: Value of primary target in $Mio
Y: Number of players
P: Payout per player in $Mio per hour

Time taken for missions
Prep: 40min
Heist: 20min

Payout for solo heist:
P = X + 0.45 (400k is a full bag of weed, which is the most value you can get in solo. As far as I'm aware gold and cocaine are both locked behind 2 keypads. Edit: Cocaine is not locked behind 2 keypads, so the maximum amount is 450k)

Payout for heist with multiple players:
P = (X + 0.49 * Y) * (60min / (20min * Y + 40min)
(with multiple players you can get gold with a payout of 490k per player. As P is $Mio per hour you'll have to multiply the total payout by a time factor. This time factor takes into account that everyone takes 40min to prep their heist and then 20min to do each heist)
P = 3((X + 0.49 * Y) / (Y + 2)) (Simplified)

Break even point:

Payout solo = Payout Y=2 players
X + 0.45 = 3((X + 0.49 * 2) / (2 + 2)) = 3/4 * X + 0.735 = 1/4 X = 0.285 X = 1.14 (This means under 1.14 $Mio for the primary target the payout each player gets per hour is greater if you do the heist with 2 players instead of solo)

Payout Y=2 players = Payout Y=3 players
3/4 * X + 0.735 = 3((X + 0.49 * 3) / (3 + 2)) = 3/5 * X + 0.882
0.15 * X = 0.147
X = 0.98
(This means under 980k $ for the primary target P is greater for 3 players instead of 2)

Payout Y=3 players = Payout Y=4 players
3/5 * X + 0.882 = 3((X + 0.49 * 4) / (4 + 2)) = 1/2 * X + 0.98 0.1 * X = 0.098
X = 0.98
(This means under 980k $ for the primary target P is greater for 4 players instead of 3. Because of this playing with 3 players is never optimal as you're better of switching directly to 4)

If you find an error in my calculation or in my logic, let me know.
