Good hotel for business trip and leisure after

Good hotel for a short business trip, well located and with plety of choices to go out at noght and have a nice pint after work. Close to the beach and well suited for an early morning or afternoon jog. The inhouse restaurant is also pretty decent. The main issue with the facilities is the "gym" - and yes, the quotation marks are essential. It is ridiculously small and supposedly serves both hotels, Mercure and Ibis. There is one treadmill, one bike and two lifting equipment, definitely not suited for someone always on the go and relying on hotel gym to get their workouts done. There are however nearby options that'll accept per use pay, such as a Smartfit and a Bioritmo - which are proper gyms.

While the staff at the front desk was always polite and helpful, Ms Fernanda, Vice MD was outstanding resolving minor problems we had we the room upon check-in. The restaurant staff, foremost Mr. Peter, was excellent, the preparation time of the dishes was always way too long (35-50min). Also the variety of the menu is limited for longer stays. The location is a plus, in front of the beach (Praia do Pepe) and only 10min walk to Olegario Macial. On the downside is the cleaning of the rooms. It has been done superficially, forgetting soap and/or towels and often but cleaning the floor and bathroom mirror. On the week-ends the hotel and the surrounding area is extremely noisy until dawn. With A/C it was too cold to sleep and with open window we couldn’t close an eye or were awaken at 5:30am. Ms Fernanda arranged for us a quieter room after 2 days but it changed little. We stayed from 29Sept-9Oct and after 4-5 days we were wishing to leave already. This has been the 3rd time we stayed at this Mercure Hotel and doubt we will try it again.

Disappointing stay, Don't believe their pics on their website

I made a reservation to have a romantic stay with my husband. I checked the pictures and description. On website it says there is a swimming pool and open deck for you to enjoy sunset while having a drink. When we checked in, the reception was slow but I said ok, we do not need to hurry. We checked the room and decided to have a look at other amenities of the hotel. We could not find anything, so we decided to ask at the reception. The receptionist just said we do not have anything available, the swimming pool is out of order and we do not have any open deck. I showed her the pictures from their website and she spoke to manager, but he just said that they do not have anything available. So do not believe pictures you see on the website. Even if they are repairing the hotel, they should have said that on their website or at the moment of booking. And to publish pictures with amenities that do not exist... this is something very awful.. false advertising... The receptionist promised to give us a feedback and we are still waiting for it... Definitely it is not worth what we paid. Good points: nice view from window if you book ocean view room, good breakfast if you pay for it.
