Acuvue Oasys 1 day vs 2 week Reddit

Really minor astigmatism, worse in right than left but have a -3.00 power in both eyes. I was in Biofinity monthlies for years but they always got really dry, always had to blink and rub to get it to focus/sit right, and they ripped really often. Eye doc says I should have been in dailies a long time ago due to dry eyes, and I guess I have particularly "thick" and "protein filled" eye... gunk?
Was fitted for both the Oasys and Precision 1s, only a trial box for the Precisions and waiting for more stock for Oasys beyond the one pair I tried. I think I prefer the Oasys even from the one day. I notice the difference in my vision between eyes with both open with the Precisions like I did with the Biofinity. Right one feels like it moves a bit more and always sort of fuzzy, not really fuzzy but I definitely "feel" my right eye more in terms of vision. The Oasys seemed clearer and I didn't get the noticeable difference or shifting.
I guess the clear answer is Oasys but I was wondering if the Precisions had any merits that would make them "better" since they're totally acceptable too.

Acuvue Oasys 1 day vs 2 week Reddit

level 1

I use Acuvue Oasys extended wear contacts and wear them for about 3-4 weeks, followed by a week of wearing glasses. No ill effects so far, and 4 boxes (with 6 contacts each) will get me through a year and are covered 100% under my insurance. I think they are normally $20-25 per box online.

Same exact situation here, but I wear my glasses until they get annoying after I take out my contacts, so that varies between a week and a month. No ill effects and I've been doing this for three years, my eyes have been the same prescription the whole time.

Depends how sensitive your eyes are. Of course if you wear them the recommended amount of time the bi-weeklies are the better deal. I personally wear my dailies for about 2 weeks at a time though.

level 2

Wow, that sounds like an incredibly long time to wear dailies for. Do you notice a deterioration in viewing quality or lense integrity over that time? I ask because I used dailies and it has never occurred to me to use them for more than a couple of days before; it was just something I didn't question because it said "dailies" on the packaging.

ive done the same with both types, wearing bi-weeklies for about a month, and also wearind the dailies for 2-3 weeks. Just take them out at night and clean them really well. Also helps if you wear glasses for a day or 2 once a month to just let your eyes rest. I understand people being hesitant about doing this, but if your actually wearing daily contacts just one time and throwing them away, you mind as well be throwing away money. At the very least wear them for a few days!!

Bi- weekly last 1 month if you take them out at night. I recently ordered 5 boxes (15 months' worth) for $110 from lens.com.

By contrast my wife got about 6 months' worth of dailies for about the same price.

I use dailies for around 2 weeks. I went for a yearly optometrist checkup and was scared as hell. He said my eyes were in perfect health. Go figure!

Acuvue Oasys 1 day vs 2 week Reddit

I've worn contacts for decades. I never had a big issue with comfort until last year when I developed dry eye. I've been working with my eye doctor to find a comfortable contact lens that doesn't dry my eyes. I've literally tried 10 different brands/types over that past few weeks. I have narrowed it down to the two most comfortable; Dailies Total 1 and Acuvue Oasys 1 day. They still dry out at times and I find myself having to use rewetting drops...but they are both far better than what I was wearing. Some days the Acuvues seem more comfortable, other days the Dailies are more comfortable. Other than comfort and price, is there anything else I should consider to help me decide which one to go with?

Which is healthier? Wearing two-week lenses for the recommended two weeks, or wearing daily lenses for two days? I'm specifically looking at Acuvue Oasys 2-week versus Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses. I know the two-week lenses are marginally thicker and more durable (although the Acuvue Oasys 1-day lenses are still pretty thick and durable). But would it be better to have a fresh pair of lenses every two days, even if it's beyond the recommended wear time? I only wear contacts for about 11-12 hours a day, so from the safety margin standpoint, if they can claim that they're wearable for a full day, around 24 hours across two days wouldn't be too bad, would it?

I find the 1-day lenses much more comfortable, even across two days (which I've only tried a couple of times, usually I just toss them after a day). The 2-week lenses start to get dry and uncomfortable for me even after just a week.

To clarify, when I'm talking about two-day wear with the dailies, I'm referring to taking them out at night and storing them in saline before wearing it for another day.

Thanks so much for any insights.

Are daily contacts better than 2 week contacts?

You are less likely to get infections with daily contact lenses. Some people are not always consistent when it comes to cleaning their contacts. There is less risk of contamination if you wear fresh contacts every day. It means that the more you replace your contacts, the better for your eye health and comfort.

What happens if you wear 1 day contacts for 2 days?

The reason you shouldn't re-wear daily disposables is that reusing them can come with health risks. Those risks include: Irritation. Disposables don't resist buildup like reusable lenses—which can lead to small irritants (like dust) getting in your eyes.

Why are contacts only good for 2 weeks?

Wearing monthly lenses past 30 days (or daily/biweekly lenses for longer than you should) may result in contact lens buildup that causes blurry vision and a burning sensation. It also makes it harder for your contacts to stay moist, leading to dryness and irritation.

Can 1 day contacts last longer?

The FDA does not approve multi-day use of daily disposable contacts, as these are meant to only be worn once to prevent eye infections. They are not designed for multiple uses. Daily disposable contacts are thinner than other types of contact lenses and therefore will not hold up well for reuse.
