Our Take

N/A

The 2022 GMC Sierra is a full-size pickup that offers a higher level of features than its near-twin, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. Both went through complete makeovers in 2019 but were faulted for lackluster styling. A significant 2022 upgrade improves upon both interior and exterior design weaknesses while adding a new 2.7-liter turbo-four base engine. There also are two new trim packages: the extreme off-road AT4X and ultra-luxurious Denali Ultimate. GMC also added more safety features for 2022, as well as hands-free Super Cruise.

Pros

  • Selection of engines
  • Handling abilities
  • Hauling capacity
  • Improved interior quality
  • Class-leading cargo volume

  • Improved interior and exterior styling
  • Capable Engines
  • Improved safety features and optional Super Cruise

Cons

  • Not as refined as Ford or Ram, and loses out to Ford on brawn
  • Rough ride over broken pavement
  • Many desirable features still cost extra

  • More costly than Chevrolet Silverado
  • Ride quality not up to Ram 1500
  • Super Cruise only available on Denali trims
