The First Prescription for Eyelash Growth

Until now, in order to have longer and fuller eyelashes, women had to use an adhesive to affix synthetic lashes to their own, or use an eyelash permanent solution to curl the lashes. But now, Dr. Jugenburg is offering prescription Latisse, the first FDA approved solution for growing eyelashes.

  • Latisse lengthens, darkens and creates thicker eyelashes, and is manufactured by the same company that markets Botox.

  • Latisse is a solution that is dabbed along the lash-line on the upper eyelids once a day. The solution must be applied with the applicators that come with the solution.

Growth Phase Of Lashes

Approved Use

LATISSE® is a prostaglandin analog, indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing their growth including length, thickness and darkness.

Warning

Concurrent administration of LATISSE® and IOP-lowering prostaglandin analogs in ocular hypertensive patients may decrease the IOP-lowering effect. Patients using these products concomitantly should be closely monitored for changes to their intraocular pressure

Pigmentation of the eyelids and iris may occur. Iris pigmentation is likely to be permanent

Adverse Reactions

  • Most common adverse reactions (incidence approximately 3% – 4%) are eye pruritus, conjunctival hyperemia, and skin hyper pigmentation.
  • LATISSE® may cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which is likely permanent.
  • Eyelid skin darkening may occur and may be reversible. Only apply at the base of upper lashes. DO NOT APPLY to lower lid.
  • Hair may grow on skin that LATISSE® frequently touches.

If discontinued, lashes gradually return to previous appearance.

Important Safety Information

If you use/used prescription products for eye pressure problems, use LATISSE® under doctor care.

Dosage and Administration

LATISSE® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate or not enough eyelashes. Latisse helps them grow longer, fuller and darker.

Your Eyelashes Will Experience Real Measurable Growth.

LATISSE® works from the inside out. As the Latisse treatment progresses, you’ll first begin to see changes in length. Then, gradually, you’ll notice more thickness and darkness in your lashes. If you’re satisfied with your results by week 8 with Latisse, don’t stop there. Stick with the treatment. After week 16, you’ll see the full effect of LATISSE®

LATISSE® solution is a once-a-day treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes, as instructed by your doctor. Then, gradually, the results come in. You may start to see more length in as little as 4 weeks with Latisse and you should achieve full growth in 16 weeks. It’s not an illusion of growth. It’s your own eyelashes – only better.

In 2001, Allergan developed Lumigan, an ophthalmic solution (eye drops) used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eyes.

Patients that used Lumigan first noticed a significant side effect of eyelash growth, which created longer fuller and darker eyelashes. This side effect prompted Allergan to begin studying the active ingredient; bimatoprost for its safety and effectiveness for eyelash growth.

Finally in 2008 the FDA approved the drug and re-introduced it as Latisse for cosmetic use to grow longer and fuller eyelashes.

While Latisse and Lumigan is the same product, there are important differences in how they are used.

Latisse users are directed to carefully apply the liquid to the eyelash line, while Lumigan users put drops of the drug directly into the eye.

So How Does It Work?

The normal eyelash growth cycle involves 4 phases—anagen, catagen, telogen, and exogen—and occurs over several months. Latisse is believed to prolong the active growth (anagen) phase.

How Long Will It Take to See Results?

Studies show that 98% of women noticed fuller longer darker lashes after 6 weeks however, Latisse should be continued daily for 16 weeks to attain maximum results.

It must be noted that upon discontinuation of treatment, eyelash growth is expected to return to its pre-treatment level.

Latisse is now the only prescription eyelash product approved in Canada to naturally grow longer eyelashes. Today, popularity has since grown worldwide and it is said that 1 Latisse kit is sold every 30 seconds.

Just like the hair follicles on the rest of your body, your eyelashes work the same way; they develop and grow for a period of time before eventually falling out. How Latisse works, is that it prolongs the growth phase and increases the quantity of hairs that sprout from your eyelashes. Consistently using the Latisse method will get you the best results typically after 12 to 16 weeks of daily use.

Latisse achieves its goal by applying it on the upper lash line each night, with the drug spreading to your lower lash line automatically as you blink and close your eyes. It’s important that you never apply Latisse in your eye or onto your lower eyelid, as that might cause some prolonged discomfort. It would also be prudent for your face to be clean before applying the product and for your makeup and contact lenses removed — the fewer things in the way of the Latisse solution, the better. It is always recommended to discard each applicator after one use to avoid eye-infections. At the end of the day, this is a simple and easy process that can be done daily by yourself and will bring you amazing results and therefore make you feel beautiful. What are you waiting for?
