Due to construction at Father Hennepin Park and staff shortages, the traditional Red, White and Boom celebration, including fireworks over the Mississippi River, will not be held this year.

For 2022, the Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board has announced a series of family-friendly 4th of July events around the city. Check out all the fun happening at neighborhood and regional parks in Minneapolis:

Red, White, and Boom! 4 Mile

  • Boom Island Park
  • 8 a.m.
  • Start Fourth of July with a race and a county fair-themed festival.

Tangletown 4th of July Parade

  • 4800 Grand Ave S
  • 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Gather at the big Washburn High School Parking lot at around 9:30 am and join the parade as it makes its way to Fuller Park. At the park, enjoy live music, food trucks, classic sno cones, and inflatables and balloon art for the kids!

Lake Harriet

Victory Park

Ready to set your "out of office" autoreply and celebrate the Fourth of July? Wherever you plan to spend the holiday, there is sure to be a fireworks show nearby.

Here are a multitude of cities throughout the state that are planning Independence Day fireworks in 2022.

Albert Lea

Ring in the holiday with fireworks at Fountain Lake on July 4 at dusk.

Alexandria

The Star Storm Fireworks display will take place July 4 at dusk at Arrowwood Resort and can be seen from multiple lakes. 

Apple Valley

Freedom Days fireworks display will take place July 4 at 10 p.m. at Johnny Cake Ridge Park East.

Austin

Find food trucks, bingo, live music, a beer garden and more at Austin's Freedom Fest. Fireworks will take place July 4 at dusk in Bandshell Park.

Baudette

Celebrate Independence Day in the "Walleye Capital of the World" with a little fishing and fireworks. Baudette and the Lake of the Woods area will host a fireworks display over Baudette Bay at Willie Walleye Park at 10:15 p.m. July 4

Bemidji

The popular Bemidji Jaycees Red, White & Boom Firework Spectacular will light up the skies above Lake Bemidji on July 4 at dusk.  

Bloomington

Celebrate Independence Day at Bloomington's Summer Fete at Normandale Lake Park on July 3, which starts at 5:30 p.m. and winds down at 10:30. 

Cannon Falls

The Cannon Valley Fair is a hometown favorite with a fun-filled midway, grandstand demolition derbies and more. See the fireworks display July 4 at dusk.

Chanhassen

Events will be held at City Center Park in downtown Chanhassen and Lake Ann Park. Join us July 2-4 for the annual carnival, food and beverages, kids' activities, parade, street dance and more. Fireworks will be on display July 4 at dusk

Coon Rapids

Celebrate Independence Day with a two-day celebration July 3 – 4 with fireworks on July 4 at 10 p.m. on the grounds of the Coon Rapids Ice Center and some seating is available on the grounds of Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

Crosby

Catch fireworks over Serpent Lake on July 4 at dusk.

Crosslake

Starting July 2 at 10 p.m., you can attend the 52nd anniversary of Crosslake's annual Fourth of July fireworks display. View the fireworks from the shores of Cross Lake or on the water—either way, tune into Skeeter 101.5 FM shortly before dusk to enjoy this year's show choreographed to music.

Delano

The popular Delano Fourth of July celebration is dubbed Minnesota's oldest and largest Independence Day celebration. You can find your favorite deep-fried fair foods, a parade, carnival games and rides and more. Fireworks will light up the sky on July 4 at 10:30 p.m. Find your spot and stake a claim on the dike near Central Park. 

Duluth

Fourth Fest in Bayfront Festival Park will take place on July 4 with a fireworks display at 10:10 p.m. and live music starting at 4 p.m., including the Crunchy Bunch DJ collective, the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and a Tom Petty cover band called All Tomorrow's Petty.

Eagan

Catch fireworks during Funfest on July 4 at 10 p.m. The celebration takes place at Central Park.

East Grand Forks

This popular annual fireworks display will be held on the south side of Grand Forks, near the Scheels Sports Complex, on July 4, 10:30-11 p.m.

Excelsior

Celebrate Independence Day and enjoy the only public fireworks display over Lake Minnetonka. Explore downtown Excelsior and support local businesses or join the kids parade at 11 a.m. Find a spot in Commons Park or near the water to see the fireworks at dusk on july 4.  

Ely

Elysian

The Elysian Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a fireworks display on July 3 at 10 p.m. in Tustin Park. Spectators can enjoy the show from multiple points around town.

Eveleth

Catch the "Thunder Over Eveleth" fireworks display on July 3 at 10:15 p.m.

Forest Lake

Find your favorite carnival games, rides and foods at the weekend celebration in Lakeside Memorial Park. Fireworks will be on display July 4 at 10 p.m.

Grand Marais

Celebrate the holiday in Cook County with a fireworks display over Grand Marais Harbor on July 4 at 10 p.m. 

Grand Rapids

Fireworks will take place on July 4 at dusk. Free shuttles will be provided by Essential Grand Rapids Clinic starting at 8 p.m. Food and beverages will be available at nearby Pokegama Grill. Bring your own blanket and chairs.

Ham Lake

On July 2, the Freedom Festival has bingo, live music, food and drink vendors in Ham Lake Lions Park. The night is capped off with a dazzling fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Harmony

Join Harmony's celebration July 1-4 with a vendor fair, live music, family activities and more throughout town. A fireworks display is scheduled for July 4 at dusk in North Park.  

Lakeville

Enjoy this year's fireworks display at dusk on July 4. Pre-fireworks entertainment at Century Middle School includes live music by IV Play, inflatables and various concession stands. 

Lake City

Catch the fireworks at City Point near the marina on July 4 at dusk.

Mankato

Enjoy fireworks in Riverfront Park at 10 p.m. synced to music from Radio Mankato stations: Hot 96.7, Minnesota 93 and 94.1 KXLP Classic Rock. City Mouse and the Mankato Symphony Orchestra will also be performing before the fireworks, starting at 7 p.m. 

McGregor

Watch fireworks light up the sky over Big Sandy Lake between Goffs and Webster's Bay on July 3. Tune your radio to KKIN 94.3 FM for a live simulcast from Floe Island.

Nisswa

Cragun's Resort and Madden's Resort will co-host a fireworks display over Gull Lake July 4 at 10:15 p.m. You can view the show from both resorts, from the deck of Gull Lake Cruises and throughout the lake area. 

Orr

See the fireworks display in Orr Bay on Pelican Lake on July 2 at dusk. The show can be enjoyed in your boat, car or backyard, and parking is available downtown on Pelican Bay. 

Owatonna

The annual Patriot Skies fireworks display will be held July 4 at 10 p.m. at the Steele County Fairgrounds.   

Park Rapids

The Park Rapids Rotary Club's fireworks display is sure to brighten up your Independence Day this year. Tune in to KDKK 97.5 FM and Hot Country 92.5 FM to enjoy the choregraphed show with music on both stations. The "pre-game" starts at 9 p.m. July 4 with fireworks at dusk.

Pequot Lakes

The Stars and Stripes Days fireworks display will be held July 3 at dusk at Pequot Lakes High School practice field. Some of the best viewing locations are Trailside Parks, Pequot Lakes School and the TDS parking lot.  

Perham

Celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks display after the ballgame at the the East Otter Tail County Fairgrounds on July 4.

Prinsburg

Join the community celebration on July 2 with a bean bag tournament, community dinner and pedal tractor pull followed by fireworks at dusk.

Princeton

Celebrate with bingo, live music and other family fun at the Patriotic Stampede on July 4 at Lyons County Fairgrounds. Fireworks start at dusk and are put on by the American Legion.

Red Wing

The Mississippi Alumination crew will commemorate Independence Day with a fireworks show that can be viewed from many different areas of Red Wing July 4 at dusk.  

Rochester

The 2022 4th Fest will be held in Soldiers Memorial Field Park on July 4 at 10 p.m. This free event features live music that celebrates the diverse community.

St. Cloud

The St. Cloud Area Fireworks will be one of the largest pyrotechnics displays in central Minnesota on July 4 at 10 p.m. Great viewing areas are available on both sides of the Mississippi River, in Wilson and Hester parks, along 5th Avenue North, and throughout the community.  

St. Louis Park

Find concessions, vendors and live entertainment from DJ Bob in Aquila Park, plus fireworks promptly at 10 p.m. on July 4. 

St. Paul

Cheer for the Saint Paul Saints at CHS Field in Lowertown St. Paul, where there will be fireworks July 1 - 3 after the games.

St. Peter

Spend the entire day outside on July 4, including a parade on Washington Avenue at 10 a.m., a Picnic in the Park featuring live music, food vendors and a beer garden from noon to 4 p.m., and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Tofte

Celebrate the holiday with live music and fireworks at dusk on July 4 in Tofte Park. If it's raining, the fireworks will be held the following day.

Two Harbors

Enjoy fireworks at 10 p.m. on July 4. In the event of rain, they will be held on July 9.  

Wabasha

Celebrate the holiday with fireworks on July 4 at dusk. Grab your friends and find a spot at the Wabasha Athletic Field across from Dick's Fresh Market.

Warroad

Celebrate with food trucks, lumberjack shows, a boat parade and local beers from Lake of the Woods Brewing Company. Fireworks will light up the sky on July 4 at dusk.

White Bear Lake

Join the celebration on July 4 to celebrate America's birthday. Find concessions, live music, and more in West Park and Memorial Beach. Fireworks will be on display at dusk.  

Willmar Lakes Area

Come out to Saulsbury Beach at dusk on July 4 to view the annual fireworks display above Green Lake. Enjoy the show by boat, in your car or sitting on blankets and chairs around the lake.

Woodbury

Celebrate the holiday with inflatable games, concessions and live music from The Thrillbillies, an upbeat country cover band. Fireworks will be on display at 10 p.m. on July 4 at HealthEast Sport Center.  

Worthington

Toast Independence Day with two nights of fireworks at Ludlow Park on July 3-4, starting at around 9 p.m.
