It's all a shell of itself, with Fred Savage on hand to occasionally note how weird this all is. Full review In the end, the whole clean-up project is as shrug-worthy as most of the "Unrated Director's Cut!" edits that go the other direction on home video, promising more nudity and gore but changing little of consequence. Toned down Deadpool done rightVerified purchase
I had looked everywhere for this last year and couldn’t justify it during the holidays. Happy to have found it and for the reasonable price it’s at now!

A Great Spin on a Great Comic Book Movie!Verified purchase
“Once Upon a Deadpool” recuts “Deadpool 2” to a PG-13 rating, using sequences in which Deadpool reads the story to a kidnapped Fred Savage in his studio bedroom from “The Princess Bride” as a framing device. For a character who routinely breaks the fourth wall, this allows for even greater metatextual commentary, beginning with a discussion on the limits of profanity under MPAA rules. This also works to address some of the critiques of “Deadpool 2.” Further changes include the digital removal of all blood from action scenes, not only making them funnier but also demonstrating the inherent flaws in how the MPAA rates violence. Dialogue has been redubbed or bleeped to meet the requirements, some scenes are trimmed down, and the few scenes with nudity are blurred. In addition to the added humor of the Fred Savage scenes, some jokes have been added including an “Up” reference during Deadpool’s bleak moments before Colossus recruits him for the X-Men. The overall effect not only works well for the tone of the Deadpool franchise to date, but acts much like Kirby Dick’s 2006 documentary, “This Film Is Not Yet Rated,” to demonstrate the arbitrariness of America’s ratings system.

If you love what the Deadpool character is all about you should love thisVerified purchase
As there appears to be some confusion of what this is, let's get it out there. This movie is a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 edited and interspersed with new scenes shot with Ryan Reynolds reading Deadpool 2 to Fred Savage imitating the Princess Bride book reading.
I'm certainly sorry for anyone who didn't bother to read what this was, bought/watched it, and then felt the need to complain about it and give it a low rating. This movie should have just as many stars as the original Deadpool despite it lacking the violence and profanity of the original. Anyone who loves the irreverence of the Deadpool character should appreciate what they have done with this and the inclusion of Savage in his Princess Bride bedroom peppered throughout the movie is a classic. I own both movies and will watch them both for years to come as each stands on it's own. I only wish they would have started this with the first one so that there was a more family friendly version of each to share with the kids until they get older. Highly recommended!

I'm not sure I understand the one-star reviews raging that this is basically an edited version of Deadpool 2. I guess they bought it not knowing what it is and expecting a completely different movie? Or it makes them mad that anyone would want to watch Deadpool without the gleeful profanity, violence and sexuality.
So, to protect you from disappointment, this is Deadpool 2 without the gleeful profanity, violence, and sexuality. There is some added material, but probably not enough to make you buy this if you have the original. The movie is still full-length, and is still laugh-out-loud funny. Unless you thought the only thing funny about the original is that people swear a lot. "He said F***! Har! That's funny. Because f*** is funny."
Believe it or not, this is a really good movie without all that. I found it delightful, and well worth owning.

This is Deadpool 2 in a PG-13 Format. And it is a helluva lot funnier than you might expect.Verified purchase
First and foremost, please ignore the people who are writing reviews saying that they are disappointed because this is Deadpool 2. Of course it's Deadpool 2. Not only does it say as much in the description, but every trailer for it also made that very clear.
I went into this not sure of what to think. I enjoyed Deadpool 2, although I didn't think it was as good as the first Deadpool.
As it turns out, I think that the humor in Once Upon a Deadpool was actually better than Deadpool 2. Put simply, Deadpool 2 had so much going on that you missed a lot of the jokes. But with the removal of the gory humor in this version of it, the jokes that were masked by the gore really shone. It was, imho, funnier than Deadpool 2.
With that said, this is still PG-13. And they pushed the limits with the use of language. So don't go in expecting this to be safe for your 8 year old. It's not.

So funnyVerified purchase
Once Upon a Deadpool is so funny, especially for those of us that happen to love Deadpool and A Princes Bride. This mashup isn't exactly child safe for younger children but its good for some and a funny take on the movie for us adults.
