What is we need more purple schools about?

Parents need to know that The World Needs More Purple Schools, by Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart, is a colorful, peppy celebration of individuality, curiosity, and perseverance – wonderful messages for all ages with a delivery can be a little heavy-handed for all but the youngest readers. Penny Purple brings the themes from The World Needs More Purple Peoplefront and center again, showing readers how they can show curiosity and empathy in their classroom, their school, and the community. The illustrations are bright and energetic, with people of many different races and abilities working hard and bringing their creativity and silliness to every page.

This children's book from Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart is all about creating a school environment that is playful, silly, and diverse. The book has about 20 colorfully illustrated pages. The book is short and simple; it follows young Penny Purple as she shows the reader how to help make their school a “Purple School” too. Penny explains that this refers to a place “where lots of different people come together to mix their stories, their ideas, and their smarts” (just like how mixing blue and red makes purple). Our little ones liked the artwork, and there are lots of cool little details in the background of the illustrations. (Our astronomy buff was incredulous when reading about the “Puppy Pirate Galaxy”, but she let that one slide)Overall a fun little book, that encourages creativity, curiosity and having fun while learning.

I ordered this book for my Brother in law who helps run Books are Gems in El Paso! It is such a gift to be able to provide this kind of book for children to help foster compassion and empathy!
Many of their books come from Amazon and provide such joy!

Love Kristen Bell and the idea but something about the book was a little choppy and didn’t flow very well. Gave it to our kindergarten teacher as an end of year gift and she loved it though

I think this story had potential but fell short. It didn't hold my attention and I'm not sure how much it'll hold a kid's attention.
