I'm thinking about upgrading from my 2014 3.7 Q50 (one day) to a Red Sport 400, but the additional $$$$ to go to that model has me second guessing myself. After doing a little research online, I've been reading that with certain tuning kits & normally a large heat exchanger upgrade, you can get a normal 3.0T up to 400 HP, just like a red sport. Has anyone had this done and had good results? I couldn't believe that Infiniti/Nissan would leave that much HP on the table by simply tuning it down, but I'm pretty new to this.

In 2021, the INFINITI Q50 returns to the market with few changes. The minor updates that it does have are primarily reserved for the mid-level trim called the Luxe. Even though it's mostly the same as last year, the INFINITI Q50 is still an appealing vehicle. The Q50 stands out for its comfortable ride, luxurious cabin, and performance options, including a more powerful engine for the Red Sport 400. Of the four trim levels available for the Q50, the Pure and Red Sport 400 are equally good choices with some key differences to consider as you're shopping for a car.
Performance
The Pure has the same standard engine shared with most trims of the Q50, which is a capable V6 engine with a 3.0-liter capacity. This engine offers ample power with a peak output of 300 HP. Its power is matched with 295 LB-FT in torque. With the Red Sport 400 comes a more powerful engine with an increased power output to 400 HP. The Red Sport 400's engine gets 350 LB-FT in torque. Both engines are connected with a seven-speed automatic as their sole transmission, and they have all-wheel drive.
Appearance
A chrome-accented front grille and a sculpted hood are notable exterior elements for the Q50. You also have the option of dressing up your INFINITI with many unique and eye-catching paint colors. LED lights are included in the front and back ends for the Pure. The Red Sport 400 features its own unique red paint color scheme, but is also available in additional colors including Slate Gray, Grand Blue, Majestic White and Graphite Shadow. It has a sportier look with custom bumpers, upgraded brakes, and adaptive dampers. You have the option of getting performance summer tires for this trim as well. The Red Sport 400's athletic exterior is matched with equally unique and sporty interior details.
Features
As you would expect from a luxury sedan, the INFINITI Q50 has a fine cabin with high-end materials, state-of-the-art technology, and creature comforts. At a minimum, you can look forward to simulated leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto if you get the Pure. A WiFi hotspot is standard with this trim as well, and it has keyless entry. Two infotainment touchscreens are other notable highlights. The Red Sport 400 has a sunroof and premium leather seats with a sporty design. The sound system is a 16-speaker Bose, and you can add on lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring with an optional ProActive package.
