Bruce Lee was one of the most prominent and influential martial artists, an actor, movie producer, martial art instructor, and creator of Jeet Kune Do. He was born in San Francisco, California, to the family of a Cantonese opera singer, and was one of the five children of his parents. He grew up in Hong Kong and, as his father had to do with arts, Bruce had the chance to appear in a few cinema movies and try himself as a child actor. When he was 18, his parents sent him to the US, to join his elder sister who had already lived there. Bruce entered the University of Washington and that's where he started getting very much interested in martial arts. He became an instructor in the early 1960s and continued being experimental as well as practicing some interesting elements as 'one-inch punch', etc. Lee joined a large number of Karate and Taekwondo. Finally, in the late 1960s he started his acting career, on television first and then in cinema, in the movies like The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, Game of Death, and his last movie Enter the Dragon. Lee was also interested in poetry and philosophy, including Western ones. In summer 1973 Bruce Lee passed away as a result of an acute edema in his brains caused by taking a medicine. The talent and contribution of him to the development of modern martial arts are remarkable. Bruce Lee was married and had 2 children, with his son Brandon Lee dying in 1993 on the shooting spot as an accident at the age of 28.
