With regard to the trim level. Special Edition? Special Edition Luxury? Special Edition Sport? Just curious

I dont think Ford ever made any definitions for that nomenclature.

In regard to the Gen 4: LX is uber-base, SE is base, SES is standard, decently equipped, SEL is upper trim, "luxury".

My understanding:
SE - Special Edition
SES - Special Edition Sport
SEL - Special Edition Luxury

Yeah, I remember laughing at that when the SES Sport came out. My guess it's the same reason that people say things like "TPS Sensor"... because, on the whole, people are idiots.

L = Base
GL = Base with some upgrades
LX = Luxury
SE = Best

For Gen 1, 2 and first half of 3 LX was the top of the line luxury model. The second half of Gen 3 and all years of Gen 4 it was the bare bones model. And from what I see, the gen 3 G was just a GL minus the trunk release button :werd:

Is SE or SEL better?

While both trim levels offer the same performance capabilities, the SEL offers more in terms of interior features and safety features. However the SEL does cost more than the SE.

What is the difference between SE and SEL?

Let's take a look at the main differences below. Besides being $1,300 more expensive, the SEL offers more safety, exterior, and interior features not available on the SE. These features include but are not limited to: Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist [BCA]

What does the SEL stand for?

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) provides students with the emotional and social wherewithal to demonstrate the personal attributes, attitudes, and values identified above.

What does S SE SEL mean on a car?

It mostly a level of luxury. With Ford, SE is for Special Edition though it really isn't special at all. The same with SEL which is Special Edition Limited which isn't limited at all either. Just like back in the day when they used XL for Extra Luxurious and 500 for the sporty version of a car as in Galaxie 500 XL.
