Trapped in a Dating Sim manga MAL

out of arrogant idiots and I wish that there was one of them who is a good, smart well rounded person. Seeing as they are characterized to be cartoonishly douchey.

Truly a refreshing take on the typically isekai where the MC has everything going for him, and see's the world around them as some sort of fragile glass object that they must not harm in anyway. Yet this story centers around a protagonist born in as you may have guessed, an otome games; which are in and of themselves a game for girls, and in a reaction that follows how most of us would act with such power, and difference in culture he takes his own realistic shot at life, as petty as it may sound at time while taking the comedic take on ... the characters to a almost flawless degree at times.

Overall It is highly worth a read if you would like a breath of fresh air from the "copy and paste", isekai's that are out there now day.

When I see the 'otome game' concept, I thought it's another milked theme. But turn out, it's not bad.

Story:
No need to explain. The MC reincarnated to the game he played. So his knowledge of the world is what make him OP.But the author did not just threw a random trouble at him so he'll just overpower it and somehow succeed in 1 or 2 chapters. We can see his struggle to survive the nonsense world, and we're happy to see him win despite we knew he'd win after all.
The world build is fit for me. Not too straightforward, nor too complex, We learn more and ... more about the world through the story flow, instead of everything is simply thrown to us by a whole chapter of narration.

Character:
The author make quite good antagonist creation. The role of each charac already decided either prot/antag by the MC's knowledge. But then we see the underlying background of them that make it clear why they're doing that. Despite already knowing who they are, the characters not just do as the MC thought as the MC interfere with their story.
Although indeed there also some antag with completely trash personality whose only purpose is to be defeated.

Enjoyment:
This manga is basically comedy, nothing too serious here. It's good and funny to see how the MC succeed each trouble.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (28/? chp)

Despite a strong start it's already getting into the genres tropes it was poking fun of at earlier.

Story 7/10
The world is pretty interesting, the progression of the plot makes sense, and the MCs goal is unique and fun. A lot of the humour actually lands, instead of just being 'misunderstanding, scream, punch'. The way characters are acting in the current arc is dragging and tropey, however. The beast slave shit is such a weird thing to add and hardly ever acknowledge.

Art 6/10
Everything looks good/great for the most part, but the artist really struggles in the action. It's pretty much impossible to follow, with very similar ... looking mechs and a problem conveying movement.

Characters 7/10
The MC is a cunt and he knows it, which is a nice change of pace. He has some decent character moments and works well to build the story around. The 'targets' are ridiculous, but I guess that's the point cause they were written that way in the game, but hopefully some of them grow. The MCs girls so far are pretty generic and nothing special, but they have time to develop. The queen is pretty great though.

Enjoyment 6/10
Good but not great, but has potential to be better. Hopefully the doomsaying about the WN is unsubstantiated.

So I'm writing this review not in stark contrast of the plethora of 10's that have been given but almost a backing up of it.

This manga is super isekai-esque, it starts by dictating this otaku and then having his life turned upside down and transported into another world. Pretty damn isekai right? Well, it's the Otome game that he was playing and that's the jist of the story at the current moment.

The thing that makes this story stand out is not only the main characters personality, but the fact that he wasn't the only one.

There's plenty of depth in his personality, a ridiculously devilish ... person with a side of an angel who can really only have confidence and self-worth issues. He's got deep-rooted issues that really make him feel more fleshed out and this isekai in particular stands out from a lot of the other hundreds of isekai manga that basically follow some of the same narrative beats.

Anyways, the main character, the plot, and a lot of it is really good. The art is also pretty good, no sakuga level type shit (does sakuga even apply for manga?) but it's still pretty good :D.

oh and the girls are cute as fuck and have actual personality rather than being saved and caring then falling head over heels for the main character, even though some of them do.

Overall:
If you like Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lion, this manga evokes that exact feeling and it's really great

Story:
For a manga which title sounds like a stupid one off, this one is actually great.

The isekai trope is used in great effect not to provide stupid exposition or making 4D chess moves, but merely to provide some extra context as to why MC acts the way he does, which is mostly reactionary. The world building is rich without relying on massive expositions like Mahouka, and it's focused more on political relationships than romantic relationships

Befitting a shounen MC, he has OP weapons with Deus ... Ex Machina that he gets to use when the proverbial excrement makes contact with metaphorical rotating aerial impeller, in turn allowing him to amass wealth which in turn allows him to just pay off whatever and whoever it is he needs to deal with. This is used to great extent to allow the MC to be a fucking asshole. In a way, it's like seeing a cheap chinese copy of Tony Stark and it's actually pretty enjoyable. Let's not pretend we don't like it when fucking Iron Man obliterates his foes with giant laser cannons

I like the fact that romance isn't pursued too hard, there's near complete lack of the MC being dense as the girls blush trying to say the million metaphors for "I love you". No bath peeping episodes, no swimsuit episodes, it's great.

I do however wish that political downfalls are explained better instead of being handled off screen

Art:
Art is amazing although the robot action sequences clearly could benefit from some more experience. Despite the important characters having clearly unique designs, the robots are surprisingly difficult to keep track of and melee combat in particular is hard to even process.

Other than that expressions are well drawn and the mecha designs themselves are actually pretty good

Also, personally the manga drawing is far more pleasant than the anime drawings, it's more shounen like. Technically the anime has more otomege look to it which I suppose is more appropriate for the setting, but it's pretty clear this work wasn't directed to shoujo market in the first place

Character:

First off, the males:
The MC is actually pretty basic "I'm a nobody but mess with my friends and I kill you" person. He's actually more akin to mary sue considering that not only he never fails, he's using 21st century modern philosophy of human rights, clearly meant to mean he's an upstanding person kind of like how Rose in Titanic is shown to be a progressive lady. He's got OP Deus Ex Machina, he knows it, and uses it every time he could to be as big of an asshole as he can be. In a way it's like watching Tatsuya from Mahouka except this time there's no incestuous sister clinging to him and he has more than 2 expressions

The 5 main males are actually well defined with obviously otomege characteristics but they are in fact presented as pretty normal human beings except being hypnotically smitten by the "lead heroine" and physically incapable of looking bad. They're never particularly important and interactions with them involves obviously otomege dialogue but that's part of the charm, a well balanced counter to the MC's douchebaggery so to speak if only to keep the MC from displaying his douchebaggery for a few pages

The heroines are.... well there's the obvious "shy, pure, innocent girl" that is Olivia but Angelica is surprisingly well written for a manga that claims harem tag. Unlike other female characters in other stories where the first time they're seen there's an exposition about how they're good in literally every fucking thing, Angelica is presented simply as a noble trying to look the noble part doing noble things because that's what nobles do, and she struggles with it. The impact of politics where there's no such thing as loyalty is used to great effect and the character grows organically at great pace

Enjoyment:
Just like Tatsuya and Mahouka, part of the enjoyment is watching the MC obliterating everything that comes his way with barely any effort whatsoever. The other part is watching the political intrigues, shallow as it may be, and the world building surrounding them. There's actually no 4D chess going on, the political intrigues are mostly shown on screen and for a silly harem mecha manga it's good to not have to wrinkle the brain trying to read between the lines

Preliminary (37/? chp)

It's actually not bad. The first chapter is a little rocky, but from that point on the story keeps improving by leaps and bounds. It's a typical wish-fulfillment isekai, but the main character is smart & has an actual personality. I enjoyed the challenges that popped up throughout the manga that had to do with being reincarnated. Literally at one point (you probably know if you've read it) I literally went "ohhhh" at how the main character got burned for the way he was seeing everything. I also actually really enjoyed the worldbuilding, it's a nice mix of sci-fi and historical, and all of the ... drama between the nobles is entertaining stuff. There are some I guess deux-ex-machina elements- but they are fully explained, are part of the goals of the characters, impact character development and have harsh consequences for their use later. Overall, this manga was surprisingly entertaining.

Who is the MC in trapped in a dating sim?

Plot. An office worker dies and finds himself reincarnated as Leon Fou Bartfort in the Holfort Kingdom of the otome game that he was forced to complete by his sister.

Is Otome Sekai finished?

Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu was released on Blu-ray in two volumes from July 27, 2022 to September 28, 2022.

Does trapped in a dating sim have Fanservice?

While the scene of Angie and Livia asleep in their underwear holding hands is obviously meant to be fanservice , it's also a pretty clear indication they love each other as much as they love Leon—and almost certainly in a way beyond simple friendship.

Is the world of otome games good?

It's fun to watch and it's not so serious, it's more easy going and one complaint is i want to see more of the "women are more important than men" thing about the story, it occasionally pops up for comedic reasons but it would be cool if it played a bigger part in the story.
