The soul of a woman was created below meaning

I assumed it meant women can break you, make you feel down, seem evil and be a 'heartbreaker' if you get me? aha

hope it helps! remember music is art; and art is all about your personal interpretation. So it means whatever meaning you personally attach to it :)

Mar 30th 2012 report

Dazed and Confused is one of Led Zeppelin's most famous songs. Written by Jimmy Page it is not the first song to be titled Dazed and Confused. Jake Holmes had a version, as did the Yardbirds. Despite the speculation I do not agree that this song was stolen.

Essentially, the studio version of this song combines blues-rock, hard rock, and psychedelia together into one six and a half minute song.

As a rough interpretation Dazed and Confused is about a man who is tricked by a woman, possibly his girlfriend, but cannot leave her.

In the first verse the narrator sums up his feelings. He's been feeling "dazed and confused for so long it's not true." This turns into bitterness when he exclaims that he "wanted a woman, never bargained for you." The woman is revered by her friends, family and colleagues but the narrator knows differently: "soul of a woman was created below."

In the second verse he refers to her as nothing more than a liar but because of his love for her "run around, sweet baby, lord how they hypnotize" he ultimately stays with her.

By the third verse the tables have changed. The narrator who does not trust the woman in the song but decides to stay with her anyway is rejected by the woman. Possibly because she has been cheating on him.

The fourth verse begins much like the first one and reiterates the main theme of the song. The final two lines of the song states, metaphorically, that karma will probably get her and that she better be willing to pay the bill when she gets it.

Led Zeppelin performed the song live from 1969 to 1975 and at one point it stretched out to almost forty five minutes.

Dazed and Confused also features the famous violin-bow sequence.

I remember thinking when I read this page that nothing needed to be said, that I should just xerox it and print it as is. I liked the way that it was off-center. It seemed to make a visual statement about the content. Then I thought, oh it's like that Led Zeppelin song, perfect. I always liked that song, Dazed and Confused but was totally mystified by that line. At the time, I seemed to use the word "soul" to express the idea that people had a core essence. I think I got this from transcendental writing on art and the romantic beats. I used the soul as a metaphor I guess but didn't believe in a "soul" that was separate from a body that would exist after you are dead or whatever. So when I stumbled on this connection I thought I'd present it as is. The social construction of the female soul, through myth, resurfacing in rock songs as popular narrative--to draw attention to this process--that our popular songs are influenced by ideas that are rooted in patriarchy--was a statement. This is how I was thinking at the time as I remember it today.

Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Lots of people talk and few of them know
Soul of a woman was created below, yeah

You hurt and abuse tellin' all of your lies
Run 'round sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize
Sweet little baby I don't know where you've been
Gonna love you baby, here I come again

Every day I work so hard
Bringin' home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away
Don't know where you're goin'
Only know just where you've been
Sweet little baby, I want you again

Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
Ahh, ahh
Ahh, ah
(Ahh)

Oh, yeah, alright, alright
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah

Oh don't leave me so confused, no
Oh, baby

Been dazed and confused for so long, it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Take it easy baby, let them say what they will
Tongue wag so much when I sent you the bill
Oh, yeah, alright

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
