Magic Keyboard space grey without Numeric Keypad

  • #1

Hi all,

I'd really like a black key version of the Magic Keyboard without the arrow key section and number pad - similar to the standard iMac version. Do you think this will be released, or are Apple keeping it as a high end option?

Many thanks

I actually have no clue. I fear there wont be a short version of the black Magic Keyboard for the time being. Today I got my white short Magic Keyboard and the black Magic Mouse (because I also have a little bit of hope left that we will see a short version). It looks a bit odd:

I'd really like that, but I'm guessing no. While the "consumer" iMac keyboards are in color, remember that both the iMac Pro and Mac Pro had specially colored peripherals and neither were offered without the numpad.

I don't think so, it was the same with the Space Gray iMac Pro keyboards, the only one you could buy was the numpad version. Apple seems to think that this color is for the pros, and that all the pros want a numpad

Yeah agreed; these most recent keyboards are exactly those that came with Mac Pro 2019, which didn't have touch ID. Those only came with a number pad...

Thanks all. Then I've got a decision to make as to whether I replace my dying 2011 keyboard and mouse with the new black ones as a pair (very expensive) or go for white again.

I highly doubt we'll see the standard size Magic Keyboard with Touch ID in Black. Apple seems to reserve those colors for "Pro" computers only, which means full size keyboards. I'm the same way, I would love to get the smaller keyboard – but not if they're white.

Why can't we get a matching color keyboard like the 24" iMac came with ?

Isn't the black Magic Keyboard a matching colour keyboard, just with a num pad?

Is this black keys version the same colour as the previous space grey keyboard?

No - similar but different.

The aluminium is silver instead of space grey. And the space grey keyboard didn't have Touch ID.

I personally like the Logitech keyboards for Mac -- many different options and colors.

But no Touch ID.

I have been waiting for a normal size Space Gray & black Magic Keyboard to match the black Magic Trackpad. I would have paired these with a black eXpress Keyboard Platform. Alas. ?

Ah -- forgot about that one.

I got the same problem right now and think I’ll just put black stickers on the white small keyboard! Can buy them on Etsy etc

Good idea, I didn’t even realize these stickers existed. I will take a look for some. Thanks for sharing!

FYI, colorware.com sells Magic Keyboards painted however you would like. You can get a compact TouchID keyboard, painted black with white lettering, for $250. Expensive, but I guess if you must have a specific color, they can help.

*I have no relationship with the company, nor do I own any of their products, but just posting for information.

Why is there no space GREY on Magic Keyboard?

Following the discontinuation of the iMac Pro earlier this year, Apple announced in May that it would also be discontinuing the space gray iMac accessories. That day has officially come, and the space gray Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse are no longer available to order from Apple.

Is there a space GREY Magic Keyboard?

Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Wireless - Space Gray (Renewed)

Is Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad worth it?

If you tend to use keyboard short cuts and really don't use a mouse or trackpad very often, the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is definitely worth an upgrade, but only if you tend to use numbers a lot. Otherwise, it's merely an extension to the Magic Keyboard with a couple of cool additional key controls.

Does Magic Keyboard have number pad?

Overview. Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad features an extended layout, with document navigation controls for quick scrolling and full-size arrow keys for gaming.
