Those are pretty solid sales for a shōjo manga with 37 books. It doesn’t even include digital sales.
How many copies does Yona of the Dawn have in print? As of 2021/12/02, the Yona of the Dawn series had 14,000,000 copies in print.
It is among the top 100 most popular manga series of all time.
How much merchandise is there for Yona of the Dawn? There are no figurines, which is not a big surprise, but I did expect at least one or two. There are also more than 350 pieces of merchandise made for this series.
I find it disappointing that there was never a single figurine for Yona.
The merchandise number is okay, but nothing outstanding, and considering how old this series is, I would expect a number closer to 500.
I think it’s clear now that this series didn’t make much money, so that could be a problem for the second season.
I highly recommend checking out Yona of the Dawn merchandise if you’re a fan of the Akatsuki no Yona series. There is some fantastic stuff made for this franchise.
Yona of The Dawn Season 2 Release Date
As of January 2022, Yona of the Dawn Season 2 doesn’t have a release date as it is not confirmed yet, and the second season of Yona of the Dawn is likely never coming out.
That means there will never be a release date for Yona of the Dawn s2, and the reasons why are simple.
In the case of Yona of the Dawn, it’s because of the profit. The second season of Yona of the Dawn didn’t get a release date mainly because the first season didn’t make much money.
A new season of anime will only get green-lit if the prior season made a good profit, and as we saw with Yona of the Dawn above, it did not.
Profit is often the main reason many anime series never get a new season since profit is the most important thing.
If the production committee wanted to do more of the Yona of the Dawn anime, we would already have the second season.
There isn’t any point in doing a new season after seven years. The anime fanbase is pretty much gone in 2022.
Yona of the Dawn is a pretty popular shōjo manga series, so there is a possibility that it will get a reboot down the line, something like Fruits Basket and Shaman King got recently.
It’s not a high chance, but it’s there. For now, I would say don’t expect there to be a release date for the second season of Yona of the Dawn.
So it’s easy to see why this series never got a second season.
For the production committee, it’s simply not worth it.
