Operational Adjustments

Update: Due to the situation in Ukraine the following UPS services have been temporarily suspended:

  • All international shipping services to and from Ukraine
  • All international shipping services to and from Russia
  • All international shipping services to and from Belarus

Packages in transit that cannot be delivered will be returned free of charge to the sender where possible.

Effective October 18, 2021 and until further notice, UPS is making the following operational adjustments: Delivery commitment times for UPS Next Day Air® destined to residential locations with a typical delivery time of 10:30 AM will be extended to 12:00 PM. Any applicable Service Guarantee with respect to these packages will be based on these revised delivery commitment times.

Suspension of Service Guarantee

Effective March 26, 2020, we suspended the UPS® Service Guarantee for all shipments from any origin to any destination. For all U.S. origin shipments, the Service Guarantee suspension became effective as of March 24, 2020.

Effective April 5, 2021 the UPS Service Guarantee was reinstated only for the following services:

  • UPS Next Day Air® Early
  • UPS Next Day Air®
  • UPS Next Day Air Saver®
  • UPS Worldwide Express NA1®
  • UPS Worldwide Express Plus®
  • UPS Worldwide Express®
  • UPS Worldwide Express Saver
  • UPS Worldwide Saver®
  • UPS Worldwide Express Freight® Midday
  • UPS Worldwide Express Freight®

Note: Until further notice, the guaranteed delivery time for UPS Next Day Air Saver® deliveries has been extended to end-of-day (11:59 p.m. on the guaranteed day of delivery).

Effective May 10, 2021, the UPS Service Guarantee was reinstated for the following International Domestic services and Transborder Express services for select countries outside of the U.S.:

  • Domestic Express Plus
  • Domestic Express
  • Domestic Midday
  • Domestic Express Saver
  • Transborder Express
  • Transborder Express Plus
  • Transborder Express Saver

Effective September 1, 2021, the UPS Service Guarantee was reinstated for GB Domestic Standard service in the United Kingdom only.

The Service Guarantee remains suspended for all other UPS® shipments not specified in the above sections, from any origin to any destination.

As the effects of the Coronavirus impact our infrastructure, we will continue to seek guidance from local, state, and national government entities to ensure that we fully align with their regulations. We are committed to continue operating globally except where constrained by government restrictions.

Prior to shipping, please check to see if the recipient’s location is open, since some businesses’ hours may have changed either due to local restrictions or at the business’s discretion. We will make three routine delivery attempts* before returning a package to the sender. Please continue to visit this site for the most up-to-date information regarding the impact of Coronavirus on UPS services.

*Where three routine delivery attempts do not coincide with a recipient’s adjusted (e.g., shortened, or weekend-only) business hours, the package will be returned to sender.

For your convenience, The UPS Store® and UPS Access Point® locations all provide access to your vital deliveries. Where available, you can sign up for free UPS My Choice® service which enables you to provide more specific delivery instructions such as where to leave deliveries, or redirect deliveries to another location, and also provides you with the ability to receive delivery notifications.

Impact of the Coronavirus on our Service Guarantee

What if UPS Next day Air is late?

What happens if UPS does not deliver on time? All UPS ground and express packages are guaranteed to arrive on time, or it's free. Once you identify that a package was delivered late, requesting a UPS Guaranteed Service Refund is the next step to get your money back.

How reliable is UPS Next day shipping?

UPS Next Day Air® packages are delivered by 10:30 AM of the next business day. Delivery is guaranteed anywhere within the US and Puerto Rico. If your package is delivered late, you can request a refund for your postage because UPS Next Day Air® includes a delivery guarantee.

How long does it take for UPS Next day Air to arrive?

1 Business Day UPS Next Day Air® Early gives you guaranteed early morning delivery for time-critical shipments. Guaranteed delivery by 8 a.m. to major cities and by 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. to most cities, with Saturday delivery to some locations as early as 9 a.m.
