I just bought a can of La Victoria Enchilada Sauce Green Chili Mild. I haven't called to confirm yet, but the ingredients are as follows...
water, green chilies, green tomatoes, vinegar, modified food starch, salt, soybean oil, garlic, sugar, spices, dry onion, msg, onion powder, hydrolized soy protein, corn starch, textured soya protein, natural nad artificial flavors, colors, yeas extract, caclium silicate, garlic posder, citric acid. CONAINS:SOY
Normally if it contains wheat, it will say that under the allergy warning. But I will call tomorrow. Here's the number. 1 800 725 7212
I have not found a red sauce in a can that didnt' contain gluten. I just make my own by opening a can of tomato sauce, adding garlic powder, chili powder, cumin and oregano. That is as simple as opening a can of red sauce. Hope that helps.

WOW!! I just went to the la victoria website and the red sauce says GLUTEN FREE!!! I'm so excited I've NEVER seen this before. The green doesn't say it but it could be new. I'll still call tomorrow. Here's the link.

WOW! That is a good link. There are several things on there that hubby can have that I didn't think about. Going to print the list for the next time I go to the store.
I am not sure if we have La Victoria in any of our stores or not. Seems like I have seen it but it could have been Las Palmos I saw. I will have to look more closely next time I am at the store.
Thanks

The only brands I recognize from this list is Las Palmas and maybe La Victoria (not sure on that one, could be my imagination). I know we have Old El Paso. I will check out the website, send them an e-mail, or call, or all of the above. I know the store brand I used to buy, and still have a can of in my pantry, is not gluten free.

I bought a can of Old ElPaso. The ingredients lists is:
Water, Tomato Puree (water, tomato paste) Modified Corn Starch, salt, sugar, distilled vinegar, chili pepper, soybean oil, citric acid, hydrolyzed soy and corn protein, onion powder, red pepper, color added, natural flavor.
Sounds safe right???

That's the one my kids like, so I'm going to use it. When I went to the grocery, all sorts of La Victoria stuff said gluten-free on it. I personally prefer if the ingredients are the things my Mexican grandmother (if I were lucky enough to have one) would have pit in it.

In search for a gluten-free enchilada sauce I visited Old El Paso's website, but when I clicked on the link for Nutrition Information it brought me to another page that did not contain what I was looking for. I did, however, find their enchilada sauce listed on Amazon and they list gluten as an ingredient.
