Millions of users of Instagram, the famous social network, will be delighted today. It is now possible to easily insert the lyrics of a song at the Stories, in a bid to compete with TikTok and recover some users who have already switched.
Until now, Instagram only allowed music to be added to the Stories using the service's music sticker. If you wanted to display the lyrics, you had to write them manually. Faced with the growing threat of TikTok, a competing app that also deploys this feature, Instagram reacted.

How to add song lyrics to Instagram
The option announced by Instagram is available on both Android and iOS in all countries offering the music sticker. However, some Android smartphones may not yet have the option. Fortunately, it is only a matter of time before the option arrives.
To add the lyrics of the songs to the Stories on Instagram, nothing could be easier.
- Select the creation of a new Story and click on Stickers
- Search Music and select it
- Then search for your favorite song and select it
- There you go, that's it! You can then adjust the lyrics display, change the words or change the colors or font of the lyrics. It is also possible to customize the scrolling of lyrics.
Followers watching the Stories will then see the lyrics automatically displayed with the song. They can even interact with them and access more information about the artist or listen to the song.

How to Put Song Lyrics on Instagram Stories
- Launch the Instagram app.
- From the home screen, tap your profile picture in the top-left to create a Story. Or, simply swipe right on your home screen to enter Story creation.
- Add the pictures or videos you want to publish on your Story. You could create them in real-time by tapping the shutter/record button, or you could select an existing file from your gallery.
- Before hitting publish, swipe up and select Music from the Effects menu. If you don't see it on your screen, tap on the Search bar and type Music.
- Choose a song from which you'd like to include the lyrics in your Instagram Story. You can either scroll through the songs that have been recommended to you or use the search bar to find a song. You can also add music from third-party music services like Spotify or SoundCloud.
- Use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen to select a snippet of the song. The lyrics of the selected bit will appear on your screen, but keep in mind that snippets will only last 15 seconds. It's also important to mention that some song lyrics may not be available.
- If a song has lyrics, you can choose from four formatting options by tapping any of the available A icons.
- Tap Done at the top of the screen when you're finished, resize and position the lyrics sticker as you like, then publish the Story.
