I get it. There are many people around the world (and several in my family) that would rather stick their fingers down their throat than eat black pudding.

Its like marmite. You either love it or you hate it.

The same can be said for haggis.

Both made in a similar way with haggis being much spicer, they carry the same cooking times in the air fryer, so if you want to cook either air fryer black pudding or air fryer haggis then this is for you!

In case you were wondering, I am among the black pudding addicts. I love it and I could gladly binge on it everyday and forever and ever.

My grandparents were rather poor. My grandad was a fisherman and my grandma worked in pubs.

They had the most amazing hearts and while my parents had a healthy business and could afford fillet steak, my grandparents were introducing me to the cheaper foods.

My grandad grew his own fruit and vegetables and fish was everywhere. When he bought meat it was always the cheaper options.

There was plenty of liver, oxtails and black pudding among other things.

I would love black pudding and would go home to my parents asking for it all the time. They both hated livers and black pudding and would roll my eyes each time I asked.

That 1980’s obsession I had with black pudding carried on and on and at the English breakfast table it is my favourite food.

I don’t care much for bacon and would rather just have sausages and black pudding.

When one of my British readers asked me about cooking black pudding in an air fryer, I jumped at the chance to convert my frying pan favourite to the air fryer.

Can You Air Fry Black Pudding?

Absolutely! Black pudding in the air fryer is delicious and much better than the old frying pan method.

Any excess fat drips to the dripping tray below and the air fryer does an awesome job of crisping up the black pudding too.

Plus, like cooking our air fryer sausages, it is dump in the air fryer and come back to them later.

Can You Cook Frozen Black Pudding In The Air Fryer?

Yes you can. When I grabbed my black pudding, it was direct from the freezer. We just gave it a quick defrost at a low temperature and then sliced it and cooked it like you would with thawed black pudding.

What About Air Fryer Haggis?

Haggis is a similar shape and a similar food to air fryer black pudding. Therefore, if it is haggis season you can follow an air fryer black pudding recipe when you cook it.

I cooked haggis in the air fryer earlier this year for Burns Night and it turned out perfectly.

I also made haggis, neeps and tatties in the instant pot and was amazed by how well these kitchen gadgets cook your favourite Scottish food.

What Is Black Pudding?

Black pudding is a British version of blood sausage. It is made from the blood of a pig and often features beef suet and pork fats.

It is then loaded with oats to bind it together.

When you compare the blood sausage in the UK with other countries such as Spain, it is the oats and suet that set it apart from other versions.
