Is there a difference between these two laundry detergents? I want to start washing things for the baby as we get them so I'm not overwhelmed when the time comes. Dreft is almost twice as much as All...is it really better?

We use All. I can't stand the smell of Dreft. So I can't compare them for you but I can say that All works well.

  • Dreft is just Tide with baby scent and extra enzymes. All Free and Clear can leave residue on your clothes. Your best bet is washing in what ever your clothes are washed in. Every time you hold baby, she will be touching your clothes washed in that detergent, anyway.

washing baby clothes in a separate detergent is, sadly, just another money gimic by companies.

  • I was told by some great BTDT moms that any detergent as long as it is free and clear will work. Some even make their own detergent. Whatever doesn't kill your wallet and you like best works fine.

I certainly prefer the price of All to Dreft.

We just switched to a free and clear brand for the whole household when our first was born. We use All now, and I like it. I'm sure the Tide free and clear is fine too though.

  • I prefer dreft because I like the smell. Target has a store brand dreft that cost a little less.

  • I've always used dreft but it's just so expensive. So I was wondering the same question. I saw the target add selling all for $10 for 96 loads. So I was going to try it. For 96 loads of dreft it was like $28 bucks😏

  • I can't handle the smell of dreft.

I use a brand called Ecos. It's a hypoallergenic brand they sell at SAMs. It's $20 for 250 loads. It gets our clothes cleaner (smelling and feeling) than more expensive brands we have tried and it doesn't bother my allergies to dyes and perfumes at all. My Dd has very sensitive skin/eczema and has no issues with it at all.

  • I started out using All free and clear and didn't like it. It didn't get all the different types of baby goo out. I love Dreft! We buy Dreft from sams club. Don't bother with the stage one newborn Dreft just get the stage 2 active baby.

Hmm that's what I was afraid of. I have a sams card so I'll have to go and check out their prices. I've used dreft for my other kids and I loved it, just now I don't want to spend all that on it but I just might have too. Decision decision lol

  • Dreft smells so good but for that price fuck that! Lol our household uses All Free and Clear and it works fine. But I do treat stains before I just throw them in my kids laundry basket.

Is free and clear the same as baby detergent?

Best Baby Detergent for Eczema All Free Clear detergent isn't officially a baby laundry detergent, but it might as well be. This formulation is hypoallergenic, dye-free and fragrance-free, and gentle enough for delicate skin—especially if baby has eczema.

What's wrong with Dreft baby detergent?

Please do not buy Dreft for your baby! Some of their offending ingredients include: Sodium Borate, which is associated with developmental, endocrine, and reproductive effects; skin irritation; allergies; and respiratory effects.
