what age will hotels let you stay without an adult?
i have a daughter who is turning 16 next year, her and her friends want to go to blackpool for the weekend(they are all sensible, and streetwise,so its not a problem),but i am wondering what is the minimum age that hotels will accept without an adult?

From previous messages I've seen here its normally 18, which IIRC is because of financial liability, I think I read that that were an under 18-year old to stay and then not pay, the hotel cannot make an enforceable claim against them. But obviously that doesn't mean that all hotels will bar under 18's, you'd have to phone around and ask them, there might be some that will be OK with it. Would be interesting if you reported back what the outcome is.

Now if you want Terms and Conditions for a hotel...look no further than the Travelodge. Straight from their terms:
"You can only make a booking if you are 16 years old or over. If you arrive at the hotel and are under 16 years of age you will not be permitted to stay alone."

I can confirm from personal experience that Travelodge does indeed accept 16 year olds unaccompanied, but they do require the booking to be made by someone 18 or over.

It would have to be 16 otherwise a young couple getting married would have to honeymoon with their parents!!!!

I'd check with the hotel though. Our daughter wanted to spend a week in Brighton with friends last summer when she was 16- the website said no-one under 18, we called them up to check and paid by credit card and they were happy to accept them
