An Iron Nugget is a craftable, renewable, non-placeable item. It has a texture resembling that of the Gold Nugget, recolored and turned 90° to the left, to prevent mistaking the item as a Ghast Tear. Its ID is minecraft:iron_nugget.
There are only two methods to obtain Iron Nuggets:
Crafting an ingot to get 9 nuggets.
Smelting any iron tool or any iron or chain armor, including horse armor, obtains a single nugget.
There are four other recipes involving Iron Nuggets as a component: Iron Ingots, Chains, Lanterns and Soul Lanterns:

I don't know why you would, but you can actually craft an iron ingot into nuggets too, if you just put an iron ingot into a square of the crafting table:

If you are a new player, you might be confused as to how many new possibilities open up when you come to the iron age. One new thing that you will come across is Iron Nuggets. However, worry now because this guide will show you how to make Iron Nuggets in Minecraft and what their uses are.
To make Iron Nuggets in Minecraft, you must first collect some iron and smelt it into an Iron Ingot. Then, put the Ingot on the crafting table to craft Iron Nuggets. You can craft about 9 Iron Nuggets with one Iron Ingot.
While this sounds like an easy job, you might be confused as to how you can get Iron Ingots or iron itself. Worry not because we will explain all the steps in detail in the next step. Without further ado, let’s dive right in and find out how to make Iron Nuggets in Minecraft and what you can use them for.
How to Get Iron?
Before we talk about crafting Iron Nuggets or even the Iron Ingot, you need to know how you can get iron. Luckily, iron is an early game resource that you can come across really early while playing the game.
You just have to continue digging and mining stone until you come across a block that looks like it has something stuck in it. This will be an iron block that you can harvest using a stone pickaxe.
After a short while, you will break the block and you will be able to collect the iron that it drops. Make sure that you collect a lot of it since you will need it to craft tons of iron tools. Apart from the tools, you will also need a lot of iron to craft the Ingots and eventually the Nuggets.
How to Get Iron Ingots?
Now that you have collected a decent amount of iron, you can move on to the next step. Crafting Iron Ingots is surprisingly easy if you know what you are doing. To craft an Iron Ingot, you first need a furnace. Making a furnace is quite easy, all you need to do is to place 8 cobblestone blocks as you can see in the image below. Doing so will allow you to get a furnace.
Keep in mind that for all of this, you need to have a crafting table. Otherwise, you will not be able to craft any of these items. To get a crafting table, gather wood logs by chopping or hitting trees.
Once you have a few logs, place them in your survival crafting menu next to your inventory. Placing a wood log will automatically convert it into a wood plank. Make a few planks since you’ll be needing them. Now, place four wood planks on the crafting menu and you will be able to make a crafting table.
Now that you have the crafting table and the furnace, you can start making Iron Ingots. Open the furnace by interacting with it and place the iron block on the top side. Then, add fuel by putting coal in the furnace. If done correctly, you will see the icon of an Iron Ingot next to the arrow. Once the arrow fills up, it means that the Iron Ingot is successfully crafted and you can grab it.
Get the Ingot and put it in your inventory. Craft multiple Ingots since you will need them for crafting tons of Iron Nuggets.
How to Craft Iron Nuggets?
Now that you finally have the Iron Ingot ready, you can start crafting Iron Nuggets. To do this, you need to put the Iron Ingot on the crafting table. You can place one Ingot anywhere on the table and it will allow you to craft about 9 Iron Nuggets as you can see in the image above.
Depending on how many Iron Nuggets you need, you can use multiple Ingots to craft more. After crafting them, grab the Nuggets and place them in your inventory to collect them. Uses Of Iron Nuggets
