Can I use Palmolive to wash baby bottles

PSA you should apparently be washing your bottles with a special bottle specific dish soap. Alternate title: how I made my baby sick with my own stupidity. from beyondthebump

This may be a dumb question.... But are you ladies using regular dish soap to wash bottles or are you using one specifically for babies? I'm just about out of baby dish soap and trying to decide whether to buy more or just use the Dawn that we use on everything else.

I have a separate dish soap for my son. We use the honest company dish soap (grapefruit).

When I was pumping I noticed that just washing with regular dish soap still left a greasy residue in the bottle. The residue was from the breastmilk (not the soap) but the dish soap wasn't removing it. Medela sells Breastmilk Removal Soap which cleans this residue so we used that. Even now that I don't pump anymore we still use it. It's about $7 a bottle and one bottle lasts a little more than a month. And honestly, I only wash with the soap every other day. We sterilize the bottles every night so one day I'll just rinse them out with warm water and sterilize, the next day I'll use the soap and sterilize, and so on.

We use Dapple.  We started because at one point I was afraid my son wasn't taking a bottle because it regular detergent made them taste funny.  I dont think that was the issue but we still use Dapple.  I think regular is fine too.

The lactation consultant at the hospital told us after LO was born to use Ivory soap on his bottle parts.  I'm now using it for his sippy bottles, bowls, spoons and high chair tray too

When our girl was in the NICU they even used regular dish soap. I believe it was the Palmolive brand that they used.

December 17, 2022 | by mommabear1301

When I shop for dish soap, I like to get blue dawn, but sometimes I just grab whatever's cheapest. I don't really wanna have to buy different soap just for the bottles, so could I just continue to use what I usually use? I plan on using the...

Can you use Palmolive to clean baby bottles?

Palmolive has mild fragrance which is good and my baby hasn't any complaints so far. I would definitely recommend it over any other baby soap brands. Just put 2-3 squirts in a water in either sink, cleaning bag or whatever your method is. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and bottles get clean.

What kind of soap do you use to wash baby bottles?

Best Dish Soap for Baby Bottles For Soaking: Before sterilizing or running your baby's bottles through a dishwasher, use a foaming dish soap like Dawn® Platinum Dishwashing Foam. Just one pump creates more than enough soapy foam to penetrate leftover formula and milk residue.

Is it OK to wash baby bottles with dish soap?

You don't need a dishwasher – you can absolutely wash baby bottles with dish soap. Wash your hands. Fill a small wash basin with hot water, adding enough Natural Dish Soap to make a thick foam. Separate each component (e.g. nipples, caps, rings) and rinse them with fresh water.

What can you wash baby bottles with?

Prepare a bleach solution of 2 teaspoons of unscented bleach per gallon (16 cups) of water in a clean wash basin. Put all items completely underwater. Make sure the solution touches all parts and there are no air bubbles in the bottles. Squeeze solution through nipple holes.
