2.0 out of 5 stars Would Have Been Perfect But Has One BIG Flaw

As all the barbers are closed during the current lockdown period i thought now would be a good time to finally try these clippers out. Lets start with the external stuff first. (For the short version of why this clipper gets 2 stars skip to the bottom)

THE CASE
These clippers do come with a plastic case to protect them. Its relatively solid plastic making it easy to store after use, however i wouldn't go throwing it around. Inside the case theres some plastic moulding for the clipper itself and each individual clipper guard to sit. This will prevent the contents from rattling around and becoming a complete mess while in storage. Overall it does the job but by no means is it a premium case.

THE CLIPPER
It looks like a premium Clipper with the metalic blue paint contrasting with the black plastic areas and chrome style detailing at the bottom. The clipper has a digital display on the front which shows remaining battery life and tells you when its finished charging. It charges relatively fast too, a 3 hour full charge will get you 160 minutes of cutting time.
Some people have complained it feels too heavy but i personally dont think so. There is definitely some weight to it in your hand but i would rather that than something light as a feather where myself or the cutters hand could slip and make a mistake.
The blade itself is adjustable, it doenst have a lever as such but if you notice the black textured area in the product pictures, you turn that to adjust the length which seems to work just as well as a lever while telling you the exact length its set to.
The blades are Japanese Steel and appear to be sharp as i experienced no hair pulling when using them on my long overgrown hair, just buttery smooth cutting. The battery seems to hold up too and actually lasts as long as it should.
There are 8 clipper guards included which are made from plastic, they snap into place and feel fairly robust. You have to squeeze the sides of the plastic guard to remove them so i hope over time this doesnt cause them to break. Overall i would be giving this Clipper a 4/5 if it wasnt for one big issue..

THE BAD
The clipper blade is slanted.. I didnt notice this at first so now cant return it. It's not off by a huge amount but is definitely visible. Depending on the severity of the misalignment it could result in an uneven cut. I thought maybe i had just been really unlucky but i looked at another Babyliss clipper on amazon and someone else has complained of the same issue. Whats worse is the manual tells you not to disassemble the blades. So you cant even correct it yourself without voiding the warranty. Considering this clipper costs £100 this is completely unacceptable. Fortunately i got mine on sale for £50. I cant recommend it at full price but if you manage to get it on sale or are happy to pay the higher price make sure you check the blade is aligned properly when it arrives.

Leave a helpful vote if this was useful to let others know of this potential issue.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product with some flaws

I’m using this trimmer to cut my own hair. Pros and cons are for personal use are below;

Pros: the build quality is good. It gives an even haircut for 3mm haircut. 0.6 to 3mm range is accurate. Comes with a variety of guards and hard case box. Battery lasts long time. Easy to clean

Cons: it’s expensive compared to same quality machines. It catches hair, it s not smooth. It gets hot easily. The mold inside the box is so thin, I don’t think I will last long. It’s not waterproof.

All in all I would recommend this in £30-50 price range. To cut your own hair, I would suggest Phillips QC5570 which is cheaper , does not catch hair, waterproof and has a rotating head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great build quality with excellent battery life

I purchased these clippers to replace a set of Phillips clippers that were still in good working order, I had my eye on these for a while but didn't want to pay £100 for a pair of clippers so I jumped at them when they were offered at £64.99 back in November. I have used them for several months now and think they are worth £100 all day long, the clippers are heavier than the Phillips clippers but are not heavy enough to be uncomfortable in use and it's that reassuring weight that comes from a well put together premium product, everything about the clippers feels good quality the materials used for the body, the click of the taper control, the finish, the Japanese steel blades all add to the feeling of a high quality product, I charged the clippers as instructed before the first use and allow them to almost fully discharge before re-charging and the battery life is excellent, I cut my hair using the lowest 0.6mm setting 2-3 times per week and a full charge lasts around 6-8 weeks, what's more I'm never worried about running out of charge mid cut as the digital screen tells me how much cut time I have remaining, there's also a 20 minute quick charge for 20 minutes use that I have never had to use. I don't use the blade guards but I have tried them and they are easy to fit and remove, the carrying case doesn't quite feel up to the quality of the clippers but it allows me to store everything neatly and protects the clippers. I would buy these clippers again, which is something I wouldn't say about the Phillips clippers, the Phillips clippers did cut closer at 0.5mm but the BaByliss clippers cut better so I don't need as many passes and I enjoy using them far more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far better than Philips

So I've been cutting my own hair for about 15 years now and couple months ago thought I'd spend quite a bit on decent clippers, after reading reviews I decided on the Philips 9000 series and I was very disappointed! Was very difficult not to end up patchy, the battery life was awful could only get 1-2 cuts before the battery died. Decided to give up on them and buy these, wow sooo much better so even, clippers body feels so much more premium, blade far more ergonomic against the skin and these were almost half the price of the Philips!!! Battery life is also far better, looks like I should be able to get at least 7-8 cuts before recharge. Wish I wouldn't have wasted the money on Philips and had bought these first. Plus on these clippers the blade is adjustable rather than the guards like on the Philips. Hands down these win, don't hesitate to buy these I'm so impressed, even way better than my previous Wahl clippers

3.0 out of 5 stars 0.6mm Closest shave

"Three Star" rating is purely down to the smallest 0.6mm setting .
0.6mm doesn't sound much but very noticeable/unshaven look ,,Actually looks like "You could do with a shave " and Unfortunately I do have to use my old electric clipper on my face (but its OK for my head) , so defeating the purpose .
Some Engineer figured out than this setting , would greatly reduce drain on battery , and they were right ,, I have had for over year now and have only had to charge a few times , brilliant.I also like to look after "tools" so being able to remove "Head" to clean well is great .
Only other down is the oil bottle,Same Bottle as u get with "Cheapo" clippers , barely seals, tread on lid are too course and short to seal properly so i have to store mine upright due to spillage .Amount in bottle does not encourage to look after your clipper.
I would NOT buy This model again ,, but if detachable head and closer shave was available ,would have it in an instant.
