The prices have gone mad, you are right, and even paying this prices you cannot get a card unless you are very luckie. I actually got a 3080 for € 749,00 and the performance is great. Raytracing changes some of the games, but DLSS Boost the games to a new level. Even the 3060ti gets a hughe boost with it.
There is a lot more than a general benchmark (cpuuserbenchmark as commented above), or even benchmarks for videocards that compare brute force, but not including the new technologies that the new cards offer.
But if you check the game benchmarks and compare a 1080ti, 2070 and a 3060ti, the 30ti is faster (not using Raytracing or DLSS), then the 1080ti and the worst one is the 2070 (again not using Raytracing or DLSS).
Taking this into account, the 20 series are the ones that did not get the proper boost (as we all know), but on the 30series they have recovered the lost terrain, and giving the extra Boost with DLSS and the Raytracing effects that look stunning.
BTW, the inches does not matter, only the resolution and Hz
I recently took the dive and purchased a 3060ti FE for msrp. 423$ total with tax from BestBuy, but I already have a 1080ti. I was thinking about selling my 1080ti for 223$ to make the price difference worth it or I either cancel my order entirely. What do you guys think? I want to upgrade to a card with DLSS, but is the cost difference worth it. I'm willing to listen to any suggestions.
TL:DR 200$ for 3060ti from 1080ti worth it?
Edit: Based on the feedback I'm gonna return the card when it reaches my house or either sell it to someone for the same price I bought it for to make someone's day

both are good, it's probably easier to find a 1080 ti, whereas it's impossible to find a 3060 ti nowadays that isn't either a scam or overpriced.

It's been at least a couple of months now since 3060 Tis have been easy to find for a decent price. It's better than a 1080 Ti.
level 2
oh wow, aight, what motherboard and CPU would I need in order to use that GPU
level 1
whereas it's impossible to find a 3060 ti nowadays
That was back in 2020-2021. Nowadays, you can easily grab a 30xx at reasonable price. Of course, this is assuming you are not living in war torn area or some hell hole.
Hi there, not sure if this is the right place to ask but my 1080ti just died on me tonight and I'm looking at replacing it with one of the above 30 series cards.
I'm looking at the following options below(prices in NZD):
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Gaming($700) or Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Aorus Elite($750)
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING($850) that apparently also comes with a free 256GB M.2 SSD lol, or EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FTW3($900)
Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3070 Eagle($900) or Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming($950)
Any recommendations for which I should pick up? Currently thinking about grabbing the 3060.
My current parts are
i7-8700k with a aftermarket cooler
32GB of RAM, DDR4 CL16 3200MHz
EVGA 650 GD
Thanks
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm on NZ so the prices are absolutely hilarious.

My friend told me he got a new gpu and it hasn’t been used before (I was able to confirm) and he wanted to trade with my gpu (3060 ti) he says that the 1080 ti is better but the 1080 ti is like 3 years old and my gpu is pretty new and has ray tracing and stuff, is it worth the trade?

The 1080ti doesn’t natively support Ray Tracing so I wouldn’t even consider it over a 3060ti. It’s a better performer and future proof.

I’ve seen you’ve said it’s not really a friend, but someone on Snapchat. I’m going to say that this person is trying to scam you. A 3060ti is better. Sure, the 1080ti may beat it in some situations. However from what I’ve seen, most of those situations are in games where you have the option of DLSS. Which then means the 3060ti will then still beat the 1080ti.

Ik I called him out for it and he blocked me so I don’t even think he was taking no for an answer so yeah your right it’s a scam
level 2
1080ti is equivalent to a 3060, but the 3060ti is much better than a 1080ti
level 1
Obviously the 3060ti....
Edit: Time to punch that "friend" of yours in the face for trying to scam you

I'm glad you kept your 3060

Your friend is an asshole saying a 1080ti is better. It’s not. 3060ti is better, it’s basically a 2080ti.

He’s not really a friend more like a friend of a friend and I had him added on snap, he saw my gpu and been bothering me all day about it

I'd stick to the 3060ti More support/not abused/new warranty
You won't any difference if there was one (performance wise) between the two
level 1
3000 is larger than 1000. Let that sink in
level 1
3060 TI All day because it is newer and performance wise, it is identical to the 1080 for the average gamer.

You need some new friends, that guy is trying to scam you hard
