The Australian range of Ram models has grown with the 2022 3500 that’s joining the 1500 and 2500 launched earlier this year. All models are imported and converted to right-hand drive at the local importer’s Melbourne facility.
Local pricing for the 2022 Ram 3500, which is available only in Laramie Crew Cab guise with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel, kicks off from AU$162,950, which equals to around US$119,000, plus on-road costs. That’s nearly double the price of the same 3500 Laramie Crew Cab in the States where it has a starting MSRP of US$52,195 plus US$9,500 for the optional Cummins diesel and US$2,900 for the 4×4 drive, for a total of US$64,595 or about AU$88,400.
Powering the Ram 3500 to be sold Down Under is a 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins turbodiesel engine pumping out 370 hp (276 kW) and 850 lb-ft (1,152 Nm) of torque. This gives the pickup a maximum payload of up to 1,724 kg (3,800 lbs) and a braked towing capacity of up to 8 tonnes.

Ram Trucks Australia says it has tested the 3500 for 80,000 km on dynos, 50,000 km on real roads, and completed a full 20,000 km full durability test to ensure it is able to cope with the tough conditions of Australia and anything local buyers put it through.
Like other Ram models imported to Australia, the 3500 hits the local market as an international-spec model before it is converted from left- to right-hand drive in a process that involves over 400 locally-sourced parts.
“The all-new 3500 completes the task we set ourselves at the start of 2021: to deliver a full range of fit-for-purpose vehicles for the Australian consumer,” Ram Trucks Australia national manager Jeff Barber said in a statement. “The 3500 is a remarkable vehicle that cements our product offering in 2021. Only RAM Trucks Australia can deliver such a vehicle thanks to our robust and detailed planning, development, remanufacturing, and testing programme in conjunction with our local and global partners including Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, US).”
Correction: We mistakenly reported on the U.S. MSRP for the RAM 3500 Laramie Crew Cab with the Hemi V8 instead of the 6.7L Cummins Turbodiesel which is a $9,500 option in the States.
